It's a great privilege to serve as the President of the College of Dentistry and Stomatology of Sri Lanka (CDSSL), a professional body that has grown steadily over the decades, bringing together specialists from all fields of dentistry and stomatology, with the shared mission of advancing postgraduate dental education, practice and research in Sri Lanka.
I’m pleased to share this message with you through the official website, which serves as a helpful space to stay updated and engaged with the College’s activities.
Since its establishment in the 1980s, CDSSL has been a unifying platform for continuing professional development (CPD) through a diverse range of activities including hands-on workshops, case-based discussions and webinars. The highlight of the academic calendar, the Annual Scientific Sessions, is thoughtfully structured to support postgraduate training by incorporating a postgraduate forum, multidisciplinary symposia and guest lectures spanning a wide range of disciplines and professional domains. These sessions are designed not only to strengthen the clinical skills and critical thinking, but also to foster professionalism, promote evidence-based and ethical dental practice, ultimately contributing to improved patient care.
We also actively support research by offering two annual research grants; one for any discipline within clinical dentistry and the other for research related to public oral health. These grants aim to encourage and support postgraduate trainees in fulfilling their research requirements and to promote research-based practice among our members.
Furthermore, CDSSL plays a vital national role by offering expert guidance to regulatory bodies such as the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) on the evaluation and registration of dental materials and devices.
As we move forward, our focus remains on strengthening established best practices, while also creating more collaborative and inclusive spaces for professional growth, aligning with the highest global standards in dentistry and stomatology.
I warmly invite you to explore our website, connect with our initiatives and contribute to our shared journey. Together, let us continue to uphold the values of excellence, integrity and service in the fields of dentistry and stomatology.
